Are you overweight? Or have you ever been overweight?
yes, i am technically overweight.
If you are overweight, what do you think is the reason FOR YOU?
not staying committed to diet and exercise and possibly my form of birth control.
What do you think is the reason FOR OTHER OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE?
I feel most people are overweight due to not enough exercise and overeating. It is also due to our culture of covienence; we don't want to make the time to make home-cooked healthy meals when a fast food place is right around the corner.
Are you on a diet at the moment?
I am starting one today, I am trying a balanced diet with small portions. No soda or drinks with sugar. Lots of water.
What does diet mean for you?
a- Not to eat and starve myself.
b- Cutting the calories.
c- Cutting the calories plus increasing the exercise.
d- Getting all the things my body needs with less calories.
e- Getting all the things my body needs with less calories plus increasing the exercise.
f- Eating as usual but increasing the exercise.
g- Healthy life style.
h- Your own definition. Please type.
For me a diet is the way you eat and you habits of eating.
Do you expect your diet to be successful, if so why? If not why?
I do expect my diet to be successful as long as I stick to it. I have the motivation to stick to it, but temptation is everywhere. I need to buy sugar-free gum to keep me away from mints and candy (my downfall) and no soda. Too many people drink their calories.
Have you ever managed to lose weight, but then gain again? If yes, why and how did you get back some of the weight?
I have lost weight before I got pregnant and after the boys (I have triplets), but I am just having trouble losing the last 15 to 20 lbs. I love food and socializing; so that is how. Also, getting to the gym is hard with triplets.
If you have ever succeeded to achieve your diet goals, what is it that you`ve done right?
Sticking to it and not giving up too easily. Mistakes will happen, but it is how you recover that matters. Also, you can't deprive yourself of everything all the time, just don't over indulge when you decide to do so. Don't keep you weaknesses in the house! You have to be strong and not buy them because if it isn't there you can't eat it. Don't bring money (change) to work so you don't buy from a snack fund or vending machine.
Please tell us 3 tips for a successful diet. We are all ears.
1. Be patient, nothing happens overnight.
2. Be disciplined and don't make excuses.
3. Have fun with exercise, if you hate to do it more than likely you won't do it so try dancing or whatever is fun for you that involves moderate activity.
What are you observing in other dieters as mistakes?
They think that since it is "diet" they can have as much as they want and what they don't know is sugar will turn into fat if not burned. Also, starving themselves and then overeating is so bad for you. Your body goes into starvation mode after only 12hrs of not eating so everything it gets after that it will hang on to. You have to eat vegetables!! They are rich in anti-oxidants and can taste so good even with just a few drops of fresh lemon juice.
Please tell us some important mistakes you did in your diets. We can learn from them.
My biggest mistakes are not eating enough throughout the day and then over eating at dinner. I do so well during the day that it is almost too well. Like for instance today I have had under 500 calories so tonight I am going to be hungry, but I am going to eat a granola bar in a min :) to keep that from happening.
If you never managed to get thin until now, why do you think? A criticizing mother? Pizza Hut?
Oh I have been thin and most people think I still am. I am just over my BMI for my job. I think my problem is simple I love food and love to socialize. I actually love to work out but sticking to a program is difficult. I have to be more disciplined. It has to be apart of your life, your routine.
How should your close ones treat you as a dieter? Should they better be quiet on the subject, or should they push you?
I think they should push me, I work well under pressure just not too much pressure.
If you are living with others, how do you handle the problem of you having special diet meals while others have their usual meals?
I am just eating smaller portions for my diet and we try to eat healthy
How do you cope with eating less? For some people it really hurts and is like hell. For some others, they enjoy the light feeling. How about you?
It doesn't bother me until the hunger sharks start swiming around in my stomach and I have to eat or I will be sick because I haven't eaten enough.
Could you tell us some diet methods you got involved with that did work.
Atkins works but you must becareful cause in can reck havock on your kidneys.
Where do you stand on the subject of exercise?
You MUST do it and do it often! No diet works with out exercise.
Is there anything you`d care to say about diets?
Beware of extreme diets because they might work but they can hurt you. You need certain things and only eating cabbage or grapefruit will deprive you of the other things you need. Balance is best! Control your portions!
