Below is the interview with Priceless, done 24 June 2011 Friday, 09:56:02 your time.
Are you overweight? Or have you ever been overweight?
Yes I am, I'm 165 lbs now, but I was close to 190lbs after my third baby.
If you are overweight, what do you think is the reason FOR YOU?
lack of exercise initially, two many processed foods and snacks and late night eating
What do you think is the reason FOR OTHER OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE?
probably pretty much the same
Are you on a diet at the moment?
I prefer not to call it a diet, but I am practicing moderation in my eating, with greater emphasis on fruits, veggies, lean meats, with the occasional treat:-), and I've ramped up my exercise program
What does diet mean for you?
a- Not to eat and starve myself.
b- Cutting the calories.
c- Cutting the calories plus increasing the exercise.
d- Getting all the things my body needs with less calories.
e- Getting all the things my body needs with less calories plus increasing the exercise.
f- Eating as usual but increasing the exercise.
g- Healthy life style.
h- Your own definition. Please type.
definitely e. but also enjoying giving my body good nutrition and the exhilaration of seeing huge improvements in my energy , overall fitness and stamina.
Do you expect your diet to be successful, if so why? If not why?
I do. the addition of this exercise program seems to be heading me towards breaking a plateau I was struggling with for quite a while. looking forward to going below 160lbs,
Have you ever managed to lose weight, but then gain again? If yes, why and how did you get back some of the weight?
I used to almost starve myself when younger, like for a special occasion example for a wedding, messed up my metabolism. I would say I regained weight because of poor eating habits.
If you have ever succeeded to achieve your diet goals, what is it that you`ve done right?
well I've managed to lose about 25lbs in the last few years and keep it off, by exercising consistently and watching what I eat
Please tell us 3 tips for a successful diet. We are all ears.
Consistency. determination - setting your face like a flint going for your goals, don't change too drastic - but small and essential so you don't drop back into old patterns like to avoid late night overeating, go to bed earlier, drink teas, so many wonderful flavors sweetened with stevia, no sodas.
What are you observing in other dieters as mistakes?
eating white flour, white sugar etc while claiming to be on a diet. it necessitates some changes to succeed, using foods even though considered "diet" with high fructose corn syrup etc, things that fatten more than sugar.
Please tell us some important mistakes you did in your diets. We can learn from them.
Didn't exercise intensely enough and didn't use strength training. it works for me.
How should your close ones treat you as a dieter? Should they better be quiet on the subject, or should they push you?
I would appreciate some cheering on and some company might be nice too.
If you are living with others, how do you handle the problem of you having special diet meals while others have their usual meals?
I not only live with them, I have to cook for them too! I modify my meal to suit my caloric intake and cook healthy stuff for them too. tonight I'm doing burgers for their dinner, weekend treat. I'll have the patty, no bun with a nice low fat smoothie.
How do you cope with eating less? For some people it really hurts and is like hell. For some others, they enjoy the light feeling. How about you?
I eat less, but more frequently, so its not a big deal. I snack on a handful of almonds, or fruit in between, and have yummy soups as fillers between.
Could you warn us about some diet methods you got involved with that did not work?
Cabbage soup diet didn't work for me. boring!!!!!! my weight also just didn't budge, but wasn't exercising at the time.
Could you tell us some diet methods you got involved with that did work.
Just eating smaller portions, eating little or no white flour, no sugar, use stevia occasionally instead. Stopped night eating.
Where do you stand on the subject of exercise?
Passionate about it. High intensity interval training and strength training is an awesome combination. Check out circuit training too, cracks the hardest weight plateau. I exercise early am HIIT to start burning fat early and keep burn on< plus I'm more careful with what I eat after exercise.
Is there anything you`d care to say about diets?
Life style change is whats lasting and keeps weight off. if you're on something at some time you come off it. if you're on diet you'll come off with expected weight gain. we must change our attitude, our relationship with food.
